Pattern is a reusable solution for a commonly occurring problem. Something I would encourage *everyone* to do is to read the first two paragraphs of the "gang of four" Design Patterns book, Chapter 1, Introduction. I'd recommend the GoF Design patterns : elements of reusable object-oriented software over the Head First Design Patterns book in this case, I think it simply had more information. But I am not coming here to reinvent the wheel. The Gang of Four (GoF)(from Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software, Addison-Wesley Professional Computing Series, by Erich Gamma, Richard Helm, Ralph Johnson, and John Vlissides). I am gonna start a new series for a very interesting topic which is object oriented design patterns. Yeah, I hear some of you are saying now: "Hey, did you ever hear about something called gang of four?!!". Design Patterns - Factory Method PatternA simple example of the Factory Method, design pattern in C#From Sketch to Oil PaintingPeople only remember the oil paintings, not the sketches. I am trying here… References: Addison Wesley – Gang of Four – Design Patterns, Elements of Reusable Object Oriented Software. Well kinda dated (about 10 years old). In fact Sometimes having the forced formalism of a "strong OO" language like AS, C#, or Java can make you see where a lot of these patterns came from. Without a doubt, the brightest In the Foreword to Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software (Addison-Wesley) by GoF, Grady Booch notes that he judges OOP programs by the attention developers pay to the common collaboration among objects. In 1994, the release of the book Design Patterns, Elements of Reusable Object Oriented Software made design patterns popular. Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software (Addison-Wesley Professional Computing Series) by Erich Gamma (Author), Richard Helm (Author), Ralph Johnson (Author), John M. Is this still a worth while NET (VB and C#) and SQL guy. In the next three tables are the original design patterns as they are described in the book: "Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software". Head First Design Patterns; Head First Java; Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software; Fundamentals of Object-Oriented Design in UML .. My own case was grounded in Fortran II and meandered through BASIC, assembly language, FORTH, and then on to Internet languages like JavaScript, PHP, and C#. I hear the "gang of four"'s book is pretty solid, but it seems.. I am looking to pick up a design pattern book to flip through in my down time at work.
